PRODUCT DETAILS
The Go Power! 80W Universal Off-Grid Solar Kit keeps a 12V battery charged anywhere there is no outlet: an 80W monocrystalline panel, a fully sealed IP68 15A MPPT charge controller, mounting feet and two 10 ft MC4 extension cables. The MPPT controller harvests up to 30% more than a PWM unit from the same panel and can be mounted outside, so gate openers, pump stations, UTVs, farm equipment, trail cameras and remote sheds stay powered with about 20Ah a day. 25-year panel warranty, 5-year controller warranty and a North American support team (part of Dometic).
Built for exposed installations
The GP-MPPT-85/15 controller is potted and sealed to IP68 — rain, dust and vibration do not bother it — so the whole kit can live on a fence post, a trailer tongue or a pump house wall. Go Power! has designed mobile power since 1996 and is the solar brand fitted at the factory by Jayco, Forest River, Thor and other leading RV builders. This kit brings that OEM-grade hardware to off-grid equipment. Part of Dometic.
Plug-and-play
Mount the panel with the included feet, run the 10 ft MC4 cables to the controller, connect the battery. No electrician required. Works with 12V and 24V lead-acid batteries; check the controller manual before use with lithium.

WHAT IT RUNS
What 80W of solar puts back each day: about 0.3 kWh, or ≈ 20Ah into a 12V battery on a typical flat-mounted day (4.5 peak-sun hours at ~70% of nameplate). Tilted or in strong summer sun, expect up to ≈ 25Ah. Compare that with what your gear draws:
For equipment: an electric gate opener draws 1–3Ah a day in standby, a 12V trail camera well under 1Ah, a small DC pump 10–30Ah per hour of running.
| Typical 12V camping day | Daily draw | 80W of solar |
|---|---|---|
| Storage: parasitic draws of a parked RV | ≈ 4Ah/day | Covered daily |
| Weekend basics: LED lights, vent fan, water pump, phone & laptop charging | ≈ 25Ah/day | ≈ 79% — covered when tilted or in summer |
| 12V compressor fridge alone, 24 h | ≈ 50Ah/day | ≈ 39% — add ≈ 150W or run a generator/shore day |
| Fridge camp: basics + 12V compressor fridge | ≈ 75Ah/day | ≈ 26% — add ≈ 250W or run a generator/shore day |
| Fridge camp + furnace blower (4 h, cold nights) | ≈ 100Ah/day | ≈ 20% — add ≈ 350W or run a generator/shore day |
| Full comfort: fridge, furnace, CPAP, TV through inverter | ≈ 140Ah/day | ≈ 14% — add ≈ 500W or run a generator/shore day |
Rule of thumb: match panel watts to battery amp-hours (100W per 100Ah) for a bank that recovers from an overnight draw by mid-afternoon. A lithium battery accepts the full charge current; a lead-acid bank should not be discharged below 50%.

FAQ
What is this kit for?
Any 12V battery that lives away from an outlet: electric gate openers, livestock waterers and pumps, UTVs and ATVs in storage, trail cameras, remote sheds and cabins, emergency generators' starting batteries. It keeps the battery full and extends its life.
Why MPPT for an 80W panel?
MPPT converts the panel's 18–22V output down to battery voltage instead of clipping it, recovering 15–30% that a PWM controller wastes — meaningful when one small panel is all you have. The sealed housing is the other reason: it mounts outside.
Can I use it on an RV?
Yes, though the 80W Eco Kit's flush-mount LCD controller is more convenient inside a coach. This kit suits exposed installs on trailers, boats and equipment.
Does it work with lithium batteries?
The controller's default profile is for sealed lead-acid. Many LiFePO4 batteries with a BMS accept that profile; confirm with your battery manufacturer and the GP-MPPT manual.
Flat mount or tilt?
Flat is what RV manufacturers do and it is fine for most owners: simplest, lowest drag, no wind loading. Tilting toward the sun adds 20–30% in spring and fall; the adjustable tilt mount kit under Accessories makes that optional.
Does shade matter?
Yes — a shadow on one cell can cut a panel's output by half or more. Mount away from the air conditioner shroud, antennas and vents, and park with the panels clear of trees when you can.
Is Go Power! the solar installed in my RV from the factory?
Very likely, if your coach is a Jayco, Forest River, Thor or many other brands. Go Power! has supplied RV manufacturers since 1996, so this kit uses the same panels, controllers and connectors as factory solar-prep and solar-equipped coaches.
What's the warranty?
Go Power! rigid panels carry a 25-year limited power-output warranty and Go Power! controllers a 5-year warranty, backed by a North American support team (part of Dometic). Register the product after purchase.
