The Go Power! GP-PHANTOM is a 30-amp dual-input, dual-output charge controller that combines MPPT solar charging and alternator (DC-to-DC) charging for a separate house or auxiliary battery in overland, van and fleet vehicles, on 12V or 24V systems. Solar charges the auxiliary bank while parked; while driving, the alternator input boosts voltage to charge it properly from the vehicle — one sealed IP68 unit instead of a solar controller plus a DC-DC charger. 5-year warranty and a North American support team (part of Dometic).
Built for vehicles that work
Go Power! has designed mobile power since 1996 and is the solar brand fitted at the factory by Jayco, Forest River, Thor and other leading RV builders. The PHANTOM came out of Go Power!'s fleet business: it replaces alternator-only charging on delivery trucks and trailers so liftgate batteries charge whether the vehicle is parked or driving — no more idling to charge — and it can keep electric pallet jacks charged on the truck instead of pulling them off at the dock. The same hardware suits overland and van builds where a starter battery and a house battery share one vehicle: it isolates the two, prioritizes the auxiliary bank, and its intelligent alternator function raises charging voltage so smart alternators and long cable runs still deliver a full charge. Two sources, one controller
Dual inputs accept the solar array and the alternator feed; dual outputs serve the auxiliary bank and, with surplus, the starter battery — including emergency charging between pallet jacks and liftgates. Charging runs a staged profile — main charge 14.1V (28.2V), daily boost 14.4V (28.8V) when the bank drops below 12.3V, float 13.7V (27.4V), with equalization for flooded cells and temperature compensation for lead-acid.
Check compatibility before you buy
Exact battery connections, bank isolation and charging priority depend on your wiring. Confirm system voltage, battery chemistry and any existing DC-to-DC charger against the GP-PHANTOM manual and your battery manufacturer's requirements. Lithium banks should use a BMS and a charge profile approved by the battery maker.

WHAT IT RUNS
The PHANTOM charges from two sources. Solar: up to 30A from the array — roughly 400W of panels at 12V (800W at 24V) — wired in series or parallel within the controller's input limits in the manual. Alternator: up to 30A while the engine runs, which puts about 30Ah back into the house bank per hour of driving. A day with four hours of sun and two hours of driving can return roughly 110–130Ah to a 12V bank.

FAQ
What does a dual-source controller replace?
A separate MPPT solar controller and a DC-to-DC (battery-to-battery) charger. The PHANTOM takes both inputs, isolates the starter battery from the house bank, and manages charging priority in one sealed unit.
Does it work with smart alternators and Euro-6 vehicles?
The intelligent alternator function boosts charging voltage so variable-output smart alternators still charge the house bank properly. Confirm your vehicle's alternator type and ignition-sense wiring in the GP-PHANTOM manual.
Can I use it with a lithium house battery?
Many 12V LiFePO4 batteries with an internal BMS accept the sealed profile's 14.1–14.4V charge, but confirm with your battery manufacturer and the manual, and make sure the BMS supports 30A charging. Go Power! Advanced Lithium batteries are compatible.
How much solar can I connect?
Up to 30A of charge current — roughly 400W at 12V or 800W at 24V — within the PV input voltage limits in the manual. Series-wire panels for long runs.
Will it drain my starter battery?
No. The starter battery is isolated from house loads; it only receives surplus charge and is never used to power the house bank.
Is Go Power! the controller installed in my RV from the factory?
Very likely, if your coach is a Jayco, Forest River, Thor or many other brands. Go Power! has supplied RV manufacturers since 1996 and its PWM and MPPT controllers are the ones specified on factory solar-prep and solar-equipped coaches, so this is the like-for-like replacement or upgrade.
