PRODUCT DETAILS
The Zamp Solar ZS-30AD is a 30-amp, 5-stage PWM solar charge controller for 12V systems that charges two separate battery banks from one array, regulates up to 500W of panels and works with LiFePO4, LTO, gel, AGM, flooded lead-acid and calcium batteries. You choose how the charge current is shared between the banks, each bank gets its own chemistry setting, and the digital display reports voltage, current, amp-hours and faults for both. Genuine Zamp Solar with a 2-year warranty, backed by Go Power! support, at outlet pricing.
Keep your Zamp system running
Go Power! and Zamp Solar are both part of Dometic, and this store is the home for genuine Zamp replacement parts. The ZS-30AD is the dual-bank controller Zamp supplied for motorhomes, truck campers and boats where a house bank and a starting battery share one solar array, using the same wiring and surface/flush mounting as the rest of the Zamp controller family.
Charge two banks the way you want
Hold the BT1 button and set Battery 1's share of the charge current anywhere from 10% to 90%; Battery 2 receives the remainder. When Battery 1 reaches full, its share is diverted to Battery 2, and the controller returns to your split as soon as Battery 1 needs charge again. If only one battery is connected, all current goes to it. Battery 1 and Battery 2 can be different types — a lithium house bank with an AGM chassis battery, for example.
Five stages, every chemistry
Soft start, bulk, absorption, equalization and float protect each battery from overcharge and undercharge and block reverse current to the panels at night. Select Gel, AGM, Wet, Calcium, LiFePO4 or LTO for each bank and the controller applies that chemistry's absorption and float voltages; wet and calcium batteries get an automatic equalization every 28 days or after a deep discharge. Add the optional temperature sensor for compensated charging in hot and cold weather.
See what both batteries are doing
The LCD cycles through voltage, charge current, amp-hours charged, charge-share percentage, battery type and temperature for whichever bank you select, with a bar showing charge progress at 25/50/75/100%. Six colored LEDs show solar, charging and full status for each bank, and fault codes flag reverse polarity, over-voltage, weak panel and over-temperature.
Which controller?
Choose the ZS-30AD when you have two batteries to charge from up to 500W of panels. For a single bank, the Zamp SCC1011 40A or ZS-15AW 15A cost less. For MPPT efficiency with dual outputs and RV-C integration, see the Go Power! GP-RVC-30-MPPT.

WHAT IT RUNS
Sizing guide for a 12V system: a 30A PWM controller handles about 500W of panels. Daily harvest assumes 4.5 peak-sun hours at about 70% of nameplate, which is typical for a flat-mounted RV array. PWM controllers need panels whose operating voltage matches the battery (18–22V 12V-nominal modules) and should be wired in parallel; keep array open-circuit voltage under 25V. Use 8 or 6 AWG between controller and each battery, and fuse each positive at 40A.
| Array | Nameplate | Typical daily harvest | Wiring |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 × 100W panel | 100W | ≈ 0.3 kWh/day (≈ 25Ah) | Parallel (18–22 Voc each) |
| 2 × 100W panels | 200W | ≈ 0.6 kWh/day (≈ 49Ah) | Parallel (18–22 Voc each) |
| 3 × 100W panels | 300W | ≈ 0.9 kWh/day (≈ 74Ah) | Parallel (18–22 Voc each) |
| 4 × 100W panels | 400W | ≈ 1.3 kWh/day (≈ 98Ah) | Parallel (18–22 Voc each) |
| 5 × 100W panels | 500W | ≈ 1.6 kWh/day (≈ 123Ah) | Parallel (18–22 Voc each) |

FAQ
How does dual battery charging work on the ZS-30AD?
Both batteries share one solar array. Hold the BT1 button and set Battery 1's share of the available charge current (10–90%); Battery 2 receives the rest. When Battery 1 is full, its share is diverted to Battery 2, and the split returns to your setting when Battery 1 needs charge again. The negatives are common, so it does not matter which negative is grounded.
Can the two batteries be different types?
Yes. Each bank has its own battery type setting — for example LiFePO4 on BT1 for a lithium house bank and AGM on BT2 for a chassis battery. Take care not to swap the BT1 and BT2 wires once the types are set.
Can I use it with just one battery?
Yes. Connect it to BT1 and the controller sends all available current to that battery automatically.
How much solar can I connect?
Up to 500W of 12V-nominal panels wired in parallel — about five 100W Zamp panels. Keep the array's open-circuit voltage under 25V and do not series-wire panels on a PWM controller.
Is this a 12V or 24V controller?
12V. The nominal battery voltage is 12V and the maximum solar array voltage is 25V, so it is not suitable for 24V battery banks.
Does it work with lithium batteries?
Yes. Select LiFePO4 (14.4V absorption, 13.6V float) or LTO for the relevant bank. Lithium and LTO batteries skip the equalization stage.
Does it have a remote display or temperature sensor?
Both are optional and not included. The RJ-45 port accepts the Zamp remote display, which mirrors the controller's LCD, and the sensor port accepts the Zamp battery temperature sensor for temperature-compensated charging.
What wire gauge and fuse do I need?
8 or 6 AWG from the controller to each battery (under 1 m), with a 40A inline fuse in each positive wire. From the array use 10 AWG up to 6 m, 8 AWG to 9 m, or 6 AWG to 12 m. Cover the panels during installation and connect the batteries before the solar array.
Is Zamp Solar still supported?
Yes. Zamp Solar and Go Power! are both part of Dometic, and genuine Zamp replacement controllers, panels, cables and mounting feet are sold here with North American support.
What's the warranty?
Two years against defects in materials and workmanship, backed by Go Power!'s North American support team (part of Dometic).
What does outlet pricing mean?
Brand-new, unused units sold below regular price while we clear this stock. Quantities are limited and not guaranteed.
MPPT or PWM — which do I need?
PWM is a switch: it connects the panel to the battery and chops the current, so the panel runs at battery voltage and you lose the difference. MPPT converts the panel's higher voltage into extra charge current, harvesting 15–30% more from the same panels, and lets you wire panels in series. For a few panels on a simple 12V system, PWM is cost-effective; for larger arrays, long cable runs or RV-C integration, see the Go Power! GP-RVC-30-MPPT dual bank controller.
